I can't believe I managed to mislay putting these last two reports of the season up in 2019, two thumping victories before all the unpleasantness of the potential name change happened and soured a wonderful year.

Racing into July and Swinton were still piling up the victories; when this was won, I knew we were safe, it just felt like with the way we were playing there were so many more teams worse than us. Meanwhile, Batley faded as the season went on and themselves had to scramble to stay up.

Fast forward to the end of June and Swinton have played themselves into a semi-promising position, this defeat to York City Knights, was the last time the Lions would be beaten at home for the entire year! I doubt anyone would have predicted that at the start of the season.

Again, I can't believe this was just under five months ago and the outlook was so different than it was here! So, today the Rugby League team I have supported for 30 years has decided to change its' name to become more 'marketable', it is not moving grounds or even area, it is just switching the place name from the suburb of Salford it came from to the City we are currently playing in, Manchester ( Read more... )

Here was the only Swinton report I did during April, as we spent most of the month on the road or already eliminated from Cup Competitions! A win though, one of six league wins currently so far this year!
